Sunday

Bike ride done; car picked up from the badlands of Griffith; weather has gone cold so its time to relax with some Goldfrapp on the stereo.

And have little feast on our time (with a cup of tea)

And watch the orchids open

Unfortunately, all this isn't getting the remaining chores done - and there is a green chicken curry dinner to cook.

First Weekend

So, I forgot to take out the mince for Friday meatballs and had to resort to a Jamie's 15 minute meal last night: Chorizo Carbonara. Surprisingly, with a simpler salad than that in the book, it did genuinely take only around 15 minutes. I went a bit overboard with the chilli but the boys were up for it - which was good.

It's midday Saturday. The house is reprovisioned, menus done for next week, and the washing is on the line (in the main). Luckily, in Katherine's absence the bathrooms are self-cleaning.

Time to test the toasted sandwich maker with that leg ham I bought before dragging the kids out for a ride in the sunshine - yay!

Day 3

Toasted sandwich maker has worked a treat for the fussy eater - the traditional dish of cheese and baked beans toasty given two thumbs up - leaving the other boys to enjoy T-bones finished with truffle butter.

Friday tomorrow and the weekend beckons. Sleepover, movie, bike ride and fondue night already booked - I hope there is some time for the weekend tasks of washing, cleaning, shopping and ironing . . .

When the Going Gets Tough . . .

Boys Buy Gadgets.  Because gadgets can fix anything.

Day 2, and the cold hard reality of having to cook every day for teenage boys hit home.  The result:

If all else fails we can now survive on banana smoothies and toasted sandwiches.

Plus a bit of tart.

Argh! Six Weeks . . .

without the lady of the house around.  Standards will drop. Tears will be shed. But will a new order emerge out of the chaos?  Who knows!  Only time will tell whether this blog becomes a tale of sordid decent into batchelor hell or a story of triumph over adversity.

Day one and an ominous full moon is rising.

Still, the pantry is full . . . for now.

And an easy dinner is planned with the potatoes already baking in the oven.
